Casino Mindset 101

Reading Time: 6 minutes

Having the right mindset is crucial to casino offers and playing slots.

It will allow you to remove the emotion from your gameplay. You’ll be able to complete your goal, avoid the temptation to gamble and in the long run, make more money.

In this guide, I outline 5 key ways to have the right mindset:

  • Focus On Value
  • Set Long Term Goals
  • Expect To Lose On Some Offers
  • Trust The RTP
  • Never think: ‘Casino Doesn’t Work For Me’

Nail these tips, and you’ll be in a perfect position to achieve amazing results!

1 – Focus On Value

The temptation is to focus on the profit or loss that you make.

If you made £15 profit, then you might consider that a successful day. Whereas if you lost £15, you’d probably consider that a bad day.

This is the wrong way to look at it.

Casino offers have variance. The result we achieve from each offer varies.

Don’t worry about how much you make from a single offer, or in a single day.

We should be focusing on the value of the offers that you complete.

2 – Set Long Term Goals

A good way to focus less on your daily results is to set long term goals.

Perhaps you’d like to make £50 profit per day.

Some days you won’t make £50. So if you use that as your goal, you’ll often get frustrated.

Instead, set a goal like making £1,500 over the next 3 months. That works out at roughly £16 per day.

At the end of the 3 months, you’ll be able to look back at your results.

Your daily results will have varied lots, but that won’t matter. You should see that your average daily profit was close to your target.

3 – Expect To Lose On Some Offers

Making a loss on some offers is unavoidable and it happens to everyone.

At times, you’ll even make a loss on a few offers in a row.

This is not something to worry about.

We only recommend offers that have value. Over the long run, you will make a profit.

Make sure you follow the guides and only complete offers that you have a suitable bankroll for.

The bankroll ensures we can withstand any losses and continue completing offers.

4 – Trust The RTP

Often we hear things like:

  • “blackjack doesn’t work for me”
  • “that slot is rubbish so I never use it”
  • “I always use this slot because it pays well”

Usually, someone has used a game for a short time, and formed an opinion based upon their initial results.

Let’s say you wager £10 on a slot with 90% RTP and £10 on a slot with 98% RTP. You make a £5 profit on the 90% RTP slot, and a £5 loss on the 98% RTP slot.

Based on this, the 90% slot becomes a slot you like, and the 98% slot becomes one you avoid.

You have based your approach on a tiny sample of spins, which are subject to a lot of variance.

If you use games with lower RTPs then you are reducing your value. So, in the long run, you will make less profit.

Instead, you should make decisions based upon RTP, which is the long-run return from using the game.

We’ll always recommend the highest RTP options in our guides, so don’t be tempted to stray from these.

Example

Imagine you wagered about £20 per day on a casino.

That works out to around £7,000 per year.

If we wager £7,000 on blackjack, our expected loss is £35. On a 95% RTP slot, the expected loss is £350.

So we could cost ourselves £315 profit by choosing a 95% RTP slot over blackjack!

“Casino Doesn’t Work For Me”

Sometimes people lose money on a few offers and decide that casinos must not work for them. They might decide to stop casino offers altogether.

Casino offers aren’t about being lucky or unlucky. And as we’ve discussed, everyone will lose money on some offers.

By doing +value offers, we are exploiting a mathematical advantage that should allow everyone to make a profit in the long term.

Make sure you have a suitable bankroll in place. Then try to remove all emotion from the offers.

Shrug off any losses, and stay focused on your long term goal.

Smash through the offers, build up lots of value, and you should achieve incredible results.
